Admissions Authority

The Governing Body of St Thomas More Catholic School is the admissions authority and therefore has responsibility for its own admissions. The local authority undertakes the coordination of admission arrangements on the school’s behalf.

 

Admissions into Year 7 – September 2019

In order to apply for a place for your child to join Year 7 at St Thomas More Catholic School in September 2019, please complete the online application form which is available on the Gateshead Local Authority website, www.gateshead.gov.uk. This online portal opens on 10th September 2018 and will close on Wednesday 31st October 2018.

Parent Tours – September and October 2018

Instead of holding an Open Evening we provide tours of the school throughout September and October. These tours are led by our Head Teacher, Mr Parkinson, and are specifically for parents of children in Year 6. This is a unique opportunity to see the school in action, and get a taste of what we offer. Tours begin at 9am and last for approximately 1.5 hours. In order to book a place on one of these parent tours please contact the School Office on 0191 499 5016.

Key Dates

10th September 2018 – Application Portal Opens

31st October 2018 – Application Portal Closes / Deadline for Applications

1st March 2019 – Offer letters and emails sent to Parents

15th March 2019 – Deadline for Parents to accept places

In-Year Transfers

If you would like to transfer your child to St Thomas More School, please contact Gateshead Local Authority direct, or via their website.

 

Appeals

If you receive written confirmation refusing your child a place at St Thomas More Catholic School, you have the right to appeal this decision.

To appeal the decision, please contact the school directly to request a ‘Notice of Appeal’ form. Once completed, this is to be returned to the school.

Our appeals are coordinated on our behalf by Gateshead Council. Once they receive your appeal from the school, they will contact you directly to make arrangements for your appeal to be heard. The Appeal Hearing takes place at the Gateshead Council offices.
