This year, our Christmas Jumper day has been in aid of a local charity, the IF U CARE SHARE FOUNDATION. They provide emotional and practical support with three aims; prevention, intervention and support after suicide.
The charity was set up by family members of a young boy who took his own life. He had no previous history of mental health problems, nor had he shown any outward signs of his intentions. His family members were devastated by the loss, and hoped to do something to try and prevent another family suffering a similar experience. The foundation encourages young people to share their problems instead of burying them within.
As a school, we feel that this is a vital message to our young people. We have started to look at mental health and emotional wellbeing through pastoral, conveying the importance and promoting an positive attitude to discussing mental health openly.
Lots of pupils and staff members participated, with a wide range of different jumpers and we have been able to raise £560.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated!
