Y6 Transition Gibside Event – Friday 16th June 2017

All Year 6 students who are due to start at St Thomas More Catholic School in September 2017, are invited to a teambuilding day on Friday 16th June 2017. The purpose of the day is to help students with the transition into secondary school, as well as providing an opportunity to meet other children who are due to start at St Thomas More in September.

The location for this event is Gibside Estate, which is based in Rowlands Gill. Students will take part in a variety of physical activities such as orienteering, building a hut, and the low ropes activity course, as well as allowing some time for spiritual reflection and art work.

Students will need to bring with them:

  • Appropriate clothing for outdoor activities – waterproofs, sun cream.
  • Sturdy footwear – as the day will involve a lot of walking
  • A packed lunch

Children who attend one of our Feeder Schools will be transported to Gibside from their current Primary School at 8.45am, and will be returned to their Primary School for collection by 4.30pm.

Children who do not attend one of our Feeder Schools will be transported to Gibside from St Thomas More School. Please bring your child to the main reception for 8.45am prompt. Students will then return to St Thomas More School for 4.15pm where you can collect them from the main reception.

Children will be accompanied and supervised by staff from St Thomas More School throughout the day, and will travel by coach to and from Gibside Estate.

In order to confirm your child’s place on this event, please complete and return the Consent Form. This was sent to all parents either via post or from the Primary School.

Please inform us in advance if your child has any specific needs or any mobility difficulties, so that we can make any necessary arrangements, on 0191 499 5016, or by email Miss S Falkous, sfalkous@stthomasmore.org.uk.
