Over the last two years, three of our students, Annabelle Gregorio, Ellen Scott and Sophie Thorpe have been working towards their Pope John Paul II Award.
The Pope John Paul II Award enables participants to take an active part in the life of their Church – in the life of their community and society. It enables young people to become more aware of the teaching and role of the Catholic Church in the world, and to engage at a deep level with Christ.
The Award was created to commemorate the late Pope John Paul II who was so committed to young people, and who had such belief and confidence in them.
At the awards ceremony, held at the The Tyne Theatre and Opera House in Newcastle, award winners from across the Diocese of Hexham & Newcastle, accompanied by their parish and school coordinators and supported by their families, received their awards.
Annabelle, Ellen and Sophie were delighted to receive their Gold award from Bishop Seamus and Fr Paul Farren from the Diocese of Derry who created the award.
Congratulations to all award winners.
