On Wednesday 15 November, Our U15 Girls rugby team made the journey to Darlington Mowden Park RFC for the Durham County Cup Finals event. The maths to win the cup was simple – Beat Harton and Teesdale!
First up were Harton, identified in the preliminary round as strong contenders for the title. Playing strong, flowing rugby from the start, the girls dominated every aspect of the match. They executed their attacking strike plays clinically and were physical and intense when defending – clearly identified in the match stats with the team securing 5 penalties at the breakdown and scoring 3 tries from turnover ball – all of which contributed to a winning score of 35-5.
After a break, next up were Teesdale, who we had beaten comfortably in the previous round, but it would appear they have developed well as a team since that game. In a scrappy first half STM found themselves defending for long periods of the game but used two well worked kick chase moves to score our opening tries. STM continued to grow into the game but they were made to work for the 8 tries they ended up scoring, which led to an end result of 40-5 and securing the Durham County Cup!
A county cup victory at any level and in any sport is something to be celebrated, however it is some achievement when the girls have only been playing together since April!
Thanks must also go to Miss Conway for stopping off on her way home to support the girls in both matches!

Please congratulate them if you see them before the end of the week.
