Year 7 Activity Week final letter to parents

Year 7 Activity Week
16th – 20th July 2018

Dear Parents

As Activity Week is approaching,  I am now able to give you some more information about what will be happening.

General information

  1. School dinners will be available as normal on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday and Thursday pupils will need a packed lunch. Pupils entitled to FSM or any other pupils can order a packed lunch for Wednesday and Thursday at the beginning of that week.
  2. Pupils do not need to wear school uniform on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday  but must be appropriately dressed for the various activities on the day.

Monday – the day will be split into 2 sessions. In one session the pupils will be involved in a Murder Mystery type event. In the second session they will be working with an external sports provider playing and experiencing some different types of sport. Comfortable clothes and trainers need to be worn today and sunscreen if it is needed. A change of clothes would be advisable for wet activities.

Tuesday – the day will be split into 2 sessions. In one session the pupils will be involved in a Sing-a-long cinema type event or Gaming Consoles Competition. In the second session they will be working again with an external sports provider playing and experiencing some different types of sport. Comfortable clothes and trainers need to be worn today and sunscreen if it is needed. A change of clothes would be advisable for wet activities.

Wednesday – Pupils will be walking along the Derwent Walk at Winlaton Mill.  There they will be split into smaller teams and under the supervision of staff and assistance from sixth form students  they will walk along the Derwent Walk. They will have a picnic lunch on the Derwent walk and then walk back together to school in time for the school buses. Comfortable clothes and trainers need to be worn today and sunscreen if it is needed.

Thursday – Trip to Lightwater Valley. We will leave school at 9am and arrive at Lightwater Valley at  approximately 11am. The pupils will have time to enjoy all the rides and other facilities that the park provides. They will need to bring a packed lunch and a little spending money if they want to buy any sweets or ice creams at the park. Please make sure that the children are dressed appropriately for the forecast on that day;  in particular that they have sunscreen if it is needed. We will be leaving the park at 16.30 so should be back at school by 18.30. Pupils will need to be picked up or given instructions from you on how to get home if you are happy with them using public transport. If you are planning on picking your son/daughter up please do not park in the lay by at the front of school as the coaches will need to park there to drop your children off.

Friday – Pupils must be in school uniform. The end of year celebration services will be held at St Joseph’s church. Pupils will be walked to the church. After the celebration pupils will come back to school for their final pastoral session.

After lunch the school buses will arrive at 1pm to take the pupils home.
